A discussion was held between members of the Malta Maritime Forum and Dr Magdalena Adamowicz a member of the European Parliament from the EPP – European People’s Party and active member of the EPs Transport and Tourism Committee. The discussion centred around the importance of the Maritime Industry in a European context; the decarbonisation of the maritime industry across Europe and the Emission Trading System (ETS); and maritime skills training and qualifications.
The discussion was held at the Maritime MT Vocational Centre in Birżebbuġa where Dr Adamowicz was shown round the facilities by the Head of Business Administration Ms Pauline Micallef and Head of Marketing & Operations, Mr Joseph Meli. In fact, the Malta Maritime Forum, through its CEO, coordinated a visit to maritime economic operators in Malta for Dr Adamowicz during which she was greeted at Valletta Cruise Port by COO of Global Ports Holding and CEO of Valletta Cruise Port, Mr Stephen Xuereb and was after taken on a brief tour of the Grand Harbour on board a Pilot Vessel, courtesy of Chief Pilot Capt. Jesmond Mifsud.
Dr Adamowicz was accompanied during this visit by the Hon. Robert Cutajar MP, Opposition Whip and Shadow Minister for the Environment & Climate Change.
